Halloween, SCARE. Happy Halloween day from room 14

Holden - It was fun making the mask and the costume.

Shawnee Ann- It is cool.

Terence - I liked making the mask


Alfonze - I like making the mask.


James - It was fun.

Seth - It was cool making it and fun.

Jahzaay - It was cool making them.

Lincoln - It was cool wearing them.

Jade - I really like them and it was awesome fun.

Eruera - It was cool making the masks.

Tevana - I was cool making the newspaper clothing and the masks and I like it.  It was fun.

Payton - It was really fun making it and I like it when I made the costume.  I made it and Tevana helped me, she was being nice to me.

Room 14's quest to learn to juggle.  
We didn't have very good juggling balls so we came up with some ideas on how to get them.
We wrote a letter to the principal.  Ma TeHira came to visit us.

 We asked some questions.

 We watched her juggle 2 balls.

The Pirate Feast


We have been reading the story 'The Pirate Feast.'  It is a favorite of our teacher aid Whaea Erin.


I liked when we the part with the blue ice cream.  Tevana
I like the part where he was singing about the thunder in the air. Holden
I liked it when we said 'YUCK.'
We liked reading the story, signing and saying arrrh, just like a pirate.


We made invitations to send to our family members (and Whaea Erin) inviting them to a pirate feast on friday.

We had a yummy feast of 'blue ice cream' (goody goody gum drops) and hokey pokey ice cream, popcorn and Alfonze's mum made some muffins and joined in our feast.

 James enjoyed eating his treasure. "It was YUM," said James

 Whaea Erin came to our feast, she enjoyed finding treasure as well.

 Alfonze found some treasure.

 Whaea Erin bought some lemonade to the feast, yum.

Pink Day for Cancer Research


Jay Jay - We took a picture.
Tevana - It was not on.

Payton - We went to Tawaraunui and we got our picture taken.

Teneal - We went to Tawaraunui and no one was there.

We asked some questions about our school.  We know it is over 100 years old and used to be called The Native School.


  • What did the school look like when it was first built? – Jade  We have a picture in our classroom, come and have a look.
  • Was it an old building? – Santino It was new, but now it is old.
  • Was it a Hurt Free School? – Seth No it was not a hurt free school when it was built. When did it become a Hurt Free School?
  • How was it made? – Tevana It was made of wood and the roof was made with iron.
  • When was the name changed to Kaikohe West School? – Santino
  • Did it have a library when it first opened? – Jahzaay
  • When did they open the library? – Jay Jay
  • Who was the school made for? – Payton 47 Native School students in 1882.
  • Who made the school?  Did Pappy? – Santino and Jahzaay
  • Who painted the school? – Tevana
  • How did the teachers get their names? – Payton i.e Mrs Bates, Mrs Smith
  • Why did the teachers run the school? – Jade  The children couldn't run the school. Captain Mitchell was the first principal.
  • Who supplied the library books? – Santino
