We asked some questions about our school. We know it is over 100 years old and used to be called The Native School.
- What did the school look like when it was first built? – Jade We have a picture in our classroom, come and have a look.
- Was it an old building? – Santino It was new, but now it is old.
- Was it a Hurt Free School? – Seth No it was not a hurt free school when it was built. When did it become a Hurt Free School?
- How was it made? – Tevana It was made of wood and the roof was made with iron.
- When was the name changed to Kaikohe West School? – Santino
- Did it have a library when it first opened? – Jahzaay
- When did they open the library? – Jay Jay
- Who was the school made for? – Payton 47 Native School students in 1882.
- Who made the school? Did Pappy? – Santino and Jahzaay
- Who painted the school? – Tevana
- How did the teachers get their names? – Payton i.e Mrs
Bates, Mrs Smith
- Why did the teachers run the school? – Jade The children couldn't run the school. Captain Mitchell was the first principal.
- Who supplied the library books? – Santino
- Who bought the pencils? – Deekon
- Who bought the chairs? - Santino
